Spandan is a student's research journal @ SFIMAR. Over the years, it has provided platform to students to get recognition for their quality research work. SFIMAR has always put great emphasis on qualitative and quantitative research in various areas of management. Students with the help of faculty members have constantly tried to improve the standard of research work.
The 15th Annual dayof St Francis Institute of Management and Research , Luminance, was held on 11th March , 2017. The theme was Camaraderie and it was indeed a good theme as everyone at the venue made new friends through informal introductions. The event was filled with fun and frolic.
The event was also a learning experience. Bro. Xavier inspired the audience with his insights.The Annual report in the form of a video and speech by DirectorDr S.S Mohanty was very heartwarming. The Chief Guest Mr. Rajat Jain and the Guest of honour Dr. Kalim Khan shared their knowledge and showed the students the importance of education.
Students showcased their hidden talents through amazing performances.Just as the sun shines and lights up the whole world, SFIMAR enlightens the students not only with quality education but also with the values of friendship.
Part Time MMM - 1st Year
SFIMAR celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2016 by conducting a Raj Yoga Session for the staff and faculty members. The Institute invited a trainer from Brahmakumaris. The trainer spoke about the power of the mind explained how positive thinking can change the quality of life.The session ended with practice of meditation.
The Graduation Ceremony for the 2014-2016 (MMS and PGDM) and 2013-16 (MFM/MMM)batch was held on 11th February 2017. Mr.Johny Joesph ,IAS(R), was the Chief Guest and Dr.Shailendra Narain, Ex-Chairman SIDBI, the Guest of Honour, for the occasion.
The Programme commenced with the Graduation Procession at 05.30 pm. Dr.Shailendra Narain, Ex-Chairman SIDBI presented his speech and enlightened the audience with his critical views on the current challenges in management and ways of overcoming them. The Chief Guest of the day, Mr.Johny Joesph ,IAS(R), delivered the graduation address in which he mentioned the importance of understanding and utilization of the values of education for the betterment of our society.
The MMS induction programme organized on 13th August 2016 involved speakers from the corporate and academia, who addressed the students on current and relevant topics such as innovation, sound technical and theoretical knowledge, skill enhancement and the expectations of industry from MMS graduates.

Summer Projects provide the students an exposure to the real business world during their summer internship. As a part of summer internship, each student is required to undertake the task of research or concept development and present it according to the stream of specialization.
SUMMER EXCELLENCE-2016 was held on 20th August 2016. Out of the preliminary 142 presentations, 21 presentations from various specializations of MMS & PGDM were selected by the team of faculty members.
All 21 projects were divided into Finance, Marketing, HRM, IT & Operations. They were evaluatedby corporate judges from various industries

Anveshi is a national level paper presentation contest for Management students.It is an endeavor taken to provide a platform to the potential researchers and scholars to demonstrate and further hone their skills. The event was also a liaison between Corporate, academicians and students.
The Alumni Connect is organized with an objective of increasing interactions and networking between SFIMAR ALUMNI & Final Year MMS & PGDM Students. The aim is to host grooming sessions conducted by the Alumni for the Final year Students for facing corporate challenges. The alumni also share their experiences and expertise to help students launch themselves in the corporate world.

EXUBERANCE as the term suggests, means ‘high energy’, ‘enthusiasm’, ‘zeal’, ‘motivation’ and such synonyms in the English language. EXUBERANCE is therefore a platform to bring together creative, energetic, and intellectual talent from across the length and breadth of the financial capital of India, i.e. Mumbai. It’s inception was intended to be an outlet, for the expression of the talents of scores of unsung heroes and heroines, who are eagerly looking for an audience. So now you know why it is exciting and happening? High on energy and enthusiasm?!
Keeping in mind the rich culture and diversity of our country, EXUBERANCE 2016 has a theme – Vibrant India. EXUBERANCE 2016 intends to celebrate our country’s rich heritage and inherent talent pool, represented by our ever energetic youth. The face of India’s present and future, to global aspirations. To bring a twist to the usual predictably of ‘cultural festival’ tags associated with most college events, EXUBERANCE offers an array of management and sports events. Management events include Grand Plan, BizQuiz, Trade Guru, and Ad-Zilla. Sports events include Volleyball, Badminton, Rink Football. A dose of energy and fun has be added, which will come to life with the two special events – MazeCraze and Tele Games. The cultural events at EXUBERANCE 2016 are Unoz, Dance Mania, and Jammerz! As the names suggest, all events are planned to be high on energy and enthusiasm, which will come to life at SFIMAR campus, on the 22nd and 23rd of January, 2016.
The Fresher’s Day 2015 was held on September 12, 2015. It was fun filled event which was collectively organized by all the three programmes (MMS/PGDM/Part time) students under the guidance of the Faculty Event Coordinators naming Dr.Natika S. Poddar, Dr. G. Ramesh and Dr.SulbhaRaorane for the first year Fresher’s of SFIMAR. The event started at 4:30pm with the registration of students followed by the program at 5pm, the venue being SFIMAR auditorium.
The grand opening of the event was with the Lighting of the Lamp followed by the SFIMAR Anthem. The theme of the event was ‘UV Lights’ with a tagline ‘A red carpet to shine’. There were a number of activities, creatively planned by the second year students, which included spot prizes, games etc. The Fresher’s Day celebration provided a platform for the students of SFIMAR to showcase their talents. There were dance performances by the MMS, Part Time and PGDM students. Along with the fun aspect of the entire program it also helped the students performing in time management, enhancing communication skills and gave them an opportunity to work collectively as a team.
The main highlight of the entire event was the Mr. and Ms. Fresher Contest. In order to find the most appropriate Mr. and Ms. Fresher, a series of eliminations were conducted, based on the contestant’s communication skills, confidence, their response to spontaneity and their showcase of talent. Ten students from every program (5 male and 5 female) were selected. Based on the elimination in each round, the participants were then narrowed down. The winners of the contest were Mr. Oshan Almeida & Ms. Shweta Ambre (MMS), Mr.Roydon Pinto & Ms. Priyachoksi (PGDM) and Mr. Stanwac Pereira & Ms Leanne Barretto ( Part Time).The contest was judged by the 2nd and 3rd year students representing from each programme.
The program concluded with an appetizing buffet with starters, to main course and desserts. All in all it was an enjoyable event both for the students and faculty.
