Outbound Training

The Outbound Training facilitates experiential learning, whereby students are taken outdoors and are assigned challenging tasks that need to be completed by them within a given time frame. The Institute initiated outbound training for students from the academic year 2017-18. They are taken to Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (Uttan), where they participate in various indoor and outdoor activities in groups.

Objectives:

The intent is to provide lessons in the areas of leadership, team management, decision-making, and creativity, all of which are required for a career in corporate.

Outcomes:

The outbound training for the students was organised last on 26/01/2020. Following are the lessons learnt and value addition for students:

Ice-breaking with new people and Introduction

Coming out of comfort zone and Introvert characteristic

Indulging in Team Work and Managing different personalities coming from different back grounds and cultures

Exhibiting Team Leadership

Creative Decision making

Realizing the importance of effective Communication

Realizing the importance of striking a balance between blind trust and thoughtful trust

Orientation Program

The purpose of an orientation program is to familiarize the new students with the campus, the curriculum, the faculty and the facilities available to them.

Objectives:

To brief students on the course curriculum and the extracurricular and co-curricular activities, and campus guidelines and rules.

Outcomes:

Induction/ Orientation of the 12th Batch was held online on 18th July, 2020. SFIMAR’s Management addressed the students and then brief insights about IT and library facilities were explained by respective department heads. To get first year students to get familiarized with their classmates, an ice-breaker session was conducted by MMM Alumni Ms. Kavita Antony. Comprehensive details on Academics, Co-curricular and Extra curricular Activities was given by the Program Head.

Prakalpa

Prakalpa was conceptualized by SFIMAR as a research project competition, and it’s first-ever edition was held on the 28 of November, 2015 and was conducted at the intra-collegiate level. However from 2016 onwards it has been conducted at the inter-collegiate level and it has proved to be a great success.

Objectives:

Prakalpa has been initiated with an intention to provide a platform to the 3rd year students to showcase their achievements towards their academic excellence. This will provide them with an opportunity to share their ideas and knowledge to an external panel of judges and compete among their peers to win laurels.

Prakalpa 2020-21:

Building on earlier success, 6th Edition Prakalpa 2020 was held at the inter-collegiate level on the 16th of January, 2021 via online mode. The programme was attended by SFIMAR Chairman - Bro. Alphonse Nesamony, Registrar – Bro. Xavier Munda, Director of SFIMAR- Dr. D Henry , Programme Head -Dr. Natika S. Poddar, Course program students of SFIMAR and other institutes, admin staff and faculty members. The External panel members invited for the competition from Academic and Industry were Dr. Smita J, Mr. Alban R, Dr. Medha , and Dr.Deepa N. All the presenters did a remarkable job at presenting their topics and facing the questions from the panelist’s during Q & A session.. The winners were given a trophy, certificate and cash prize.

Graduation ceremony

Graduation ceremony is at which degrees or diplomas are conferred. It’s a big occasion that calls for big sentiments in students career life.

Graduation/Degree Distribution ceremony in respect of the passed out students of MMS/PGDM programme (Batch 2018-20)& MFM/MMM Program (Batch 2017-20) was held on 26/2/2021 (Friday) in virtual mode. Academic Toppers were felicitated and honoured. Chief Guest of the program was Prof.V.N.Rajasekharan Pillai- Vice -Chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University ,Provost of Somaiya Vidyavihar and Somaiya Ayurvihar under the Somaiya Trust, Mumbai.
