“Creative Christmas Tree Making and Decoration Competition”

Objective: To imbibe creativity talents amongst students. To showcase their Fine Art talents.
Description: A campus poised on sheer scientific thrills requires a balancing dose of art so that aesthetics and beauty around us are not forgotten. The motto of the fine arts club is to inspire and enable our students to actively learn and develop their talents and skills that will develop artistic expression. The Malay club gives our students a broader view of art in many forms to bring hidden talents into the limelight.
The Club Faculty Coordinator was Dr. Natika Poddar. The Coordinators of the Malay club organized the “Creative Christmas Tree Making and Decoration” competition on Wednesday 21st December 2022. The time scheduled was 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm. This competition was held in the SFIMAR Campus. The theme of this competition was to Inhale Positivity, Exhale Creativity, and also allow the students to innovate and create without using ready-made items within 1 hr. There were 17 Groups to participate. The criteria followed were that the students were not allowed to use any ready-made item, they could use any resources available at their homes and give captions and taglines to their creative artwork. The event was graced by the presence of Deputy Director G Ramesh, Director Dr. Shalini Sinha, and Registrar Bro. Xavier Munda.
The esteemed judges of this year were Dr. Sasmita Singh, Prof. Vasudha Rao, and Mr. Anthony Fernandes. The judging parameters were creativity, use of hand-made resources, presentation, Utility, caption, and Display of Artwork. The winners were declared on the same day, based on the judging criteria 3 winners were declared. The 1st prize was won by Prit Rodriques, Selina Fernandes, Vencita Miranda, Rinky Crasto, Sweenal Fernandes (Group no:12 MMS-I), 2nd Prize was won by Terista Correia, Anushka Vasaikar, Siddhey Patil, Rohan D’cruz, Rupak Raut (Group no:9 MMS-I), Best Message/ Caption was won by Swizal Correia, Glynis Dmello, Synthia Dias, Maliaca Carvalho, Bhakti Shigvan (Group no:7 MMS-I). The Malay club thus provides a channel for exhibiting the varied talents and innovations of the students, thinking out of the box, and showing personality development. This legacy will go on a long way in honing their quality of self-reliance which will ultimately equip them with necessary life skills and opportunities.
