Events at SFIMAR

The Institute has a practice of shortlisting few good projects adjusted by the faculty guides. These projects are judged by a corporate panel in an annual event, ‘Summer Xcellence’. MBA summer internships are a great way to learn specialization subjects with practical exposure and that too under the guidance of corporate professionals. Out of preliminary 180 presentations from students of MMS and PGDM Programmes, 24 best presentations were selected by faculty members of SFIMAR for participation in Summer Excellence, 2018 - 7 presentations related to Finance, 5 presentations related to Marketing, 5 presentations related to HR, 5 presentations from Operations, and 2 presentations related to IT specialisations. It is perceived as a pinnacle of Management fundamentals and provides an opportunity to implement the skills learnt in the classroom into the diverse working scenario. The presentations of Summer Xcellence were judged by a panel from the corporate sector in each specialisation respectively.

• The main purpose of Summer projects is that first year MBA students can get exposure to the real business world during summer internships.

• It aims at encouraging students to excel in their internship.

• The competition provides a platform for SFIMAR’s budding Management professionals to showcase their business knowledge and enhance their functional skills.

• Students get an opportunity to gain proficiency in their business acumen and knowledge of the nuances of business.

• It provides the students with a hands-on learning experience for them to build their skill set in their field of specialisation.

The Institute towards its practice for ‘Sharing Experience, Enriching Knowledge’ organises Eminent Speaker Series since 2016 - 17. The Speaker Series invites senior Management professionals from different verticals. The experiences shared by the renowned speakers enrich the knowledge of the students and also focus on nurturing traits of business leaders. Thus, it facilitates the contribution of the Institute's vision. It also helps build curiosity amongst the young minds stimulating new thinking processes. Through this series, the students actively seek diverse perspectives and insights across a variety of topics providing opportunity for provoking thoughts and promoting intellectual discussions.

The Alumni Connect is a hand-holding event of alumni and current 1st year & 2nd year students. It is organized with an objective of increasing interactions and networking between SFIMAR alumni and Final Year MMS and PGDM Students. The aim is to host grooming sessions conducted by the Alumni for the Final year Students for facing corporate challenges. The alumni also share their first-hand experiences and expertise to help students launch themselves in the corporate world. This helps in creating an engaging and supportive network which is crucial for an institution’s and students’ success.

The Annual Alumni meet “SAMPARK” is the most awaited event for Alumni members organised at SFIMAR campus. It is an excellent platform for networking with alumni. Approximately 200 plus alumni members attend the meet from 1st batch onwards. The management of the Institute encourages its alumni members by awarding “SFIMAR RATNA AWARD” for Corporate Excellence and Entrepreneurial Excellence. Management has introduced one more award i.e. “Distinguished Alumni Award”. This award is given to the Alumni in SAMPARK for the voluntary contribution of the services rendered in the holistic development of the Institute.

Pathh aims at enhancing and strengthening a research culture in burning business topics among the academic fraternity by providing a platform to explore new ideas, concepts, and methodologies. and entrepreneurial spirit among the Corporate and Academic Fraternity. Since change is inevitable in today's fast moving dynamic universe, it is not only necessary to keep abreast of the happenings around us, but also to visualize the foreseeable future and steer the students in the right direction.

It is an annual inter-collegiate festival of St.Francis Institute of Management and Research. An exciting and happening Management, cultural, and sports festival. All under one roof. What do we have? It is a term which suggests, means ‘high energy’, ‘enthusiasm’, ‘zeal’, ‘motivation’. Exuberance is therefore a platform to bring together creative, energetic and intellectual talent from across the length and breadth of the financial capital of India, i.e. Mumbai. Its inception was intended to be an outlet, for the expression of the talents of scores of unsung heroes and heroines, who are eagerly looking for an audience. So now you know why it is exciting and happening? High on energy and enthusiasm! Management events include BizQuiz, Trade Guru, and Ad-Zilla. Sports events include Rink Football & Chess Championship. A dose of energy and fun has been added, which will come to life with the special event – Maze Craze & Chess Championship. As the names suggest, all events are planned to be high on energy and enthusiasm, which comes to life at SFIMAR campus during the Exuberance event.

It is an annual day of SFIMAR where there are cultural events or performances. Based on academic performances, students are awarded as top performers academically and for various co-circular activities performed. Annual report of the Institute is presented, followed by cultural programs. On this day, students are awarded different prizes and certifications by the chief guest, guest of honour, and other dignitaries for their performances and for participating in various activities and competitions. Our students from MMS, PGDM, MFM/MMM (Part time) work together to showcase a group dance and band performance with their heart and soul to make the event come alive and fill the air with zeal and enthusiasm!
