The Film Screening Club is an interesting Club, in which award-winning movies, short films, documentaries, etc. are selected based on Management concepts and screened for MMS and PGDM Students. The Movies screened by the club are followed by a detailed discussion focusing on the learning’s derived from the movie.
The Club facilitates and creates an environment conducive for experiential learning and Edutainment to the students. It helps students analyse different personality types and roles in the society and also teaches them excellent leadership qualities and skills through different characters, personality types, and their analysis.
It helps the students in learning the right values and developing leadership skills required to become successful leaders in their workplace. This story telling technique proves to be a powerful technique to imbibe right values and ethics in the young minds.
Malay club is the perfect platform to showcase Fine Arts & Performing Arts. Fine arts exhibit and express the creativity amongst students, which is a group competition, and performing arts cater to individual talents. It includes group competitions such as ‘Best Out of Waste’, ‘Act of Sand’, ‘Solo Talent’.
• The objective of conducting the Malay Club is promote innovation and stir the creativity. • To bring out the talent and imagination of the students in MMS & PGDM. • Performances, which are organised in the campus, give students a chance to imbibe and inculcate team spirit, co-ordination, confidence in themselves and amongst other students.
The Malay club gives our students a broader view of art in many forms to bring hidden talents into the limelight. The co-ordinators of Malay club organized “ The Art of photo frame making” competition via online mode on Saturday 24th April 2021. There were 14 participants who took part in this competition. The criteria followed was that the students were not allowed to use any ready-made item, they could use any resources available at their homes and give a caption to their photo frames.It was a solo participant competition. The esteemed judges of this year were Dr. Dipaali Pulekar and Dr. Smita Jesudasan. The judging parameters were- creativity, use of hand-made resources, display/presentation and caption. The Malay club thus provides a channel for exhibiting the varied talents and innovations of the students, to think out of the box and show personality development.
Green Club is a dynamic body of St. Francis Institute of Management & Research. SFIMAR has a wonderful lush green campus and Green Club members along with maintenance department managing the green activity. In July 2018 College successfully completed its first round of plantation drive for the year, with the help of Green Yatra, a Mumbai-based NGO. Faculty and staff members of Green Club and students from PGDM I participated in the programme. Govt of Maharashtra initiated a plantation drive 2018 all over the state. Hydroponic system is initiated in SFIMAR, which is under first-round trial run with a motive to develop entrepreneurial activity on urban farming. On successful completion, this will be taken further to underprivileged women who can take it up as their livelihood.
• To promote “Green Activities” amongst all the stakeholders of SFIMAR and inculcate a sense of responsibility in improving the conditions of environment among them. • To spread the message about conserving resources and living a sustainable lifestyle. • To encourage research on sustainability.
• SFIMAR organized an awareness campaign in association with the NGO, Green Yatra, a leading environmentalist of Mumbai towards protecting, conserving and the betterment of the Environment through a street play on tree plantation, with the slogan "Ped lagao jeevan bachao" in some of the biggest malls in Mumbai. • In association with Green Yatra, a Mumbai-based NGO, the college team planted 30 plants in the campus. The plants were numbered and measurements were taken by student representatives. • ‘Go Green Nursery’ visit was conducted, where all green club members (staff and students) spent their whole day in understanding the right practices and guidelines regarding plantation.
SFIMAR carries out its Institute Social Responsibility (ISR) activities through the social club ‘ABHIMAAN’ and through its Lifelong Learning and Extension Projects under the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE), Mumbai University. The Institute is guided by the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, who is the Patron Saint of Ecology for his love for the nature and environment. The Institute also carries out the ethos ‘Service through Enterprise’ of its Founders – Society of the Congregation of Franciscan Brothers, which has a strong societal-responsibility dimension in what it does. The VISION and MISSION statements of the Institute not only helps in developing students into global business leaders and entrepreneurs, but also helps imbibe a deep sense of responsibility in its students, faculty, and staff towards the society and the environment.
The Outbound Training facilitates Experiential Learning wherein groups of students are taken away from the campus into the outdoors and are assigned challenging tasks that need to be completed by them within a given time frame. The Institute initiated outbound training for students from the academic year 2017-18. They are taken to Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (Uttan), where they participate in various indoor and outdoor activities in groups.
It makes students gel among themselves and understand diversified cultures and values of the Institute.
• The outbound training gives an opportunity for students to bond together, communicate and work in teams as well as lead in activities that are based on the concept of learning with fun. • The environment provides scope for interaction through various activities that hone their managerial qualities like time Management, group dynamics, and soft skills like presentation skills and interpersonal skills, etc.
